Connect Slack

Connecting Slack lets Elba match active workspace members and deliver supported employee conversations and reminders in direct messages.

Before you connect

Use a Slack account that is permitted to install applications under your workspace’s app-management policy. Slack role names and approval requirements vary by organization.

Install the Elba app

1. In Elba, open Settings → Integrations → Slack.
2. Select Connect.
3. Review the Slack authorization screen and choose the correct workspace.
4. Approve the requested permissions.
5. Return to Elba and confirm that Slack reports as connected.
6. Open Communication Preferences if you want Slack to be the organization’s employee communication channel.

Elba synchronizes active, non-bot Slack members that have an email address. Matching uses the employee email address in Elba.

Delivery behavior

• Matched employees can receive supported Elba conversations in Slack.
• Employees who cannot be matched to a Slack account fall back to email.
• Per-user channel choices may appear where that capability is enabled for your workspace.

Troubleshooting

• Confirm that the correct Slack workspace was selected during authorization.
• Check that the employee has an active, non-bot Slack account with the same email address used in Elba.
• If Slack requires application approval, ask a workspace administrator to approve Elba and restart the connection from Elba.
• Do not remove a working Slack connection before confirming the impact on active employee communications.
